I know its been a while since I blogged here - that's because I'm involved in multiple projects and have focused on getting the work done rather than nattering about it. I enjoyed the OER Institutional Strand get-together at Nottingham Uni on 13th Feb. As someone who joined the project 8 months in, it was particularly useful for me to hear about the different approaches adopted at each site and the similar challenges and frustrations we appear to share.
I'm continuing to wade through the OERs here that have been submitted. It is pleasing to see that we now have resources from every faculty in the university, covering a wealth of topics, in a variety of formats. The workflow process is still incredibly slow, with every resource requiring careful review for potential copyright issues prior to uploading to our repository. I've had a few gems this week that I'm working to resolve!
Nick has run a few reports for me which have established some key areas where I can use the technology to record information (eg duration of resource) which means I have one less thing to record manually. He has also done a test batch upload (if that's the right terminology) for JorumOpen to ensure that we have everything with the required metadata and identifiers. Fingers crossed that this works! (Otherwise I'll have to edit everything I've uploaded to date to add the data, not a pleasant thought!!)
