Open Educational Resources

Ok, I did *quite* well with the regular blogging - its hard to maintain when there's a hundred and one other things on the jobs to do list too!
I started uploading the next batch of resources today, including some external web resources, Sadly the repository wou;dn't let me embed the Youtube ones and displayed an error message shortly before crashing my pc. {In fact, this is a brand new pc that keeps crashing while i'm using intralibrary (and we're talking blue screen of death here with countdown to the final moments ..) rather frustrating, will get the nice friendly IT help people to come and fix it and try and identify the cause of the problem.}
The new functionality to link resources should prove useful - Nicks explanantion sounds really complicated but I think it will work - watch this space and I'll report back when I've tried it. Unfortunately I didn't log onto the ning before I started todays upload task so i didn't see the message replying to my last blog. Thats the problem with all these external sites - you need to keep logged in or have notifications switched on and yet that just leads to overload, just another place to try and remember to look if you have time that is ..
Not sure I can solve that one!

Have been working on the enhancememnt academy ning due for launch tomorrow and am off to an e-learning conference in belfast wed-fri so will pick up on oer's again when I'm back.

yes, i was trying to embed the code into the library as a resource, but it clealry doesn't like that and if i think about it sensibly its perfectly obvious! I thought maybe if I embedded the code (rather than copy and paste the URL) that the video might become stored in the repository .... rather than the user visiting an external link. Its OK now I know.
Did you change a setting in the ning to force notifications or alerts? I just got an email saying you'd commented on my post and i'm SURE i didn't get any for the others!!!!

Hi Jakki

Not totally clear what you mean when you say "repository wou;dn't let me embed the Youtube ones" - d'you mean you were trying to put embed code into intraLibrary somehow? When linking to any external resource just check the 'web resource' radio button at resource upload and add the http link...

Enjoy Belfast!

Nick
