Official Launch of OER programme.

I suppose that I can now be considered a pioneer? After all I have been working on this OER project now for almost 2 months and the official release has only just happened!

In all seriousness, this "official" launch marks an important milestone in the pursuit of OER implementation across the education sector.

Polls

I have been looking at setting up some polls to gather data in a way which is not as daunting as a questionnaire but has relevance and impact to the project.

The html/java code used needs placing on ning somehow and I just can't see where to do it!

Currently in BETA mode the Jorum Open Deposit tool was demonstrated with a fairly simple interface, an upload area for the file(s) and areas for description, title, meta data and author.

This approach has clearly been approved by JISC and so might be appropriate method for taking forward our own OER repository.

The preference from… Continue

OER Startup meeting.

JISC is holding it's OER startup meeting today in London - 5.30am start from my house!

There are 7 institutional strand projects (of which we are one).

It is clear that JISC are supporting these projects in a number of ways including:

1 - IPR assistance - advice and guidance from JISC Legal

2 - Data protection

3 - Project Management

4 - Communities of practice (learning from other projects)

At Leeds Met one of the areas we will be… Continue

OERs shining light, new textbook model, or harbinger of a new imperialism

A provocative (and long!) post, whatever you think of the term "curvy knowledge":
