Making steady progress (well, of sorts ....)

I know its been a while since I blogged here - that's because I'm involved in multiple projects and have focused on getting the work done rather than nattering about it. I enjoyed the OER Institutional Strand get-together at Nottingham Uni on 13th Feb. As someone who joined the project 8 months in, it was particularly useful for me to hear about the different approaches adopted at each site and the similar challenges and frustrations we appear to share.

I'm continuing to wade…

RSS - Not so simple after all - Nick Sheppard original post.

In theory RSS is simple, Really Simple, but the way that the technology is implemented by our underlying repository software (intraLibrary) and issues around how we have needed to integrate that software within our repository infrastructure in order to ensure appropriate Open Access has meant that, in reality, it has been anything but.

Clip Art and OER

I have a burning question - what are the licensing arrangements for Microsoft clip art and OER use.

From what I have read of the license it appears that clips art is not permitted to be "distributed" and in a sense I assume that sharing an open educational resource would constitute "distribution"?

RLO Workshop

A big thank you to Dawn, Heather and Tom from the RLO CETL - http://www.rlo-cetl.ac.uk/joomla/index.php who facilitated a great 2 day workshop on developing a re-usable learning object.

Moving Forward

Having been on leave I am grateful for Nick's continued work on adding OER materials to the repository and also for the blog updates - Thank You.



I am also delighted to be able to report that as part of Leeds Met commitment to OER and the Unicycle project that I have been able to arrange with the Pro Vice Chancellor for Assessment, Learning and Teaching (ALT) to include OER as part of the ALT priorities for 2009/10.
