OMG is a shortened term for Oh My Goodness (shorten last word for atheist version).
Managing the process of collecting the materials is certainly challenging, but what is more frustrating is the reviewing of the materials before submission. Both myself and the Learning Technologist for the project Jakki have been trawling through the materials checking them for image use etc
As and example it is taking approximately 20 mins to sort through and submit a 1 hour presentation.…

Ok, I did *quite* well with the regular blogging - its hard to maintain when there's a hundred and one other things on the jobs to do list too!
I started uploading the next batch of resources today, including some external web resources, Sadly the repository wou;dn't let me embed the Youtube ones and displayed an error message shortly before crashing my pc. {In fact, this is a brand new pc that keeps crashing while i'm using intralibrary (and we're talking blue screen of death here with…

OK, forgive me lapsing on blogging on Day 3 - I was doing a mixture of other things. So today has been Day 4 and I have a headache which is possibly one of the reasons I feel like I'm wading through mud and not getting these OER's uploaded anywhere nearly as quickly as I had anticipated. Nevertheless, I am getting there and am formulating a workflow with the existing templates that works for me. Nick has provided instantaneous support when I've been a little stuck and together we're identifying…

In theory RSS is simple, Really Simple, but the way that the technology is implemented by our underlying repository software (intraLibrary) and issues around how we have needed to integrate that software within our repository infrastructure in order to ensure appropriate Open Access has meant that, in reality, it has been anything but.

Until LDAP authentication to intraLibrary is implemented, we plan to provide accounts to designated administrators within each of the six faculties at Leeds Met so they can upload Open Educational Resources for the project.
The video instructions below are designed to help them.

Finally got to grips with uploading some of the Open Educational Resources today. The interface is a little confusing and its pretty time consuming to add all of the accurate metadata, descriptions and titles for each file if you're not the originator. I imagine if each author starts to add their own resources it will make the process easier and accurate. I worry that I might give a wrong description to some of the content as I'm only scan reading it to get the gist of what it is.
The…

Just picking up on a tweet from Simon on 18th December:
"@josswinn desktop repository link great idea. we have thought about a desktop deposit tool. Have you any experience of desktop widgets?"
We do actually have a working tool for quick deposit from the desktop - it is based on SWORD and was developed by Boyd Duffee at Keele University. It is a little bit rough and ready and could use more work but it certainly has potential for OER deposit for UniCycle - it may make…

well, I've spent the last few weeks (bar the christmas/new year break!) collating the resources from contributors. It hasn't been as straightforward as I anticipated, namely due to people having very different approaches to naming protocols (not a negative comment, just an observation). I'm about to start uploading them to the leedsmet repository and record the estimated hours for each one. I'm very pleased that Nick has managed to add HEA Subject Centres as a taxonomy which should help people…
