In order to encourage staff to "want" to offer materials as OER what type of reward and recognition system could be implimented? In theory we could consider OER material as a publication, how might we be able to formalise this more?

just wanted to remind you of the Good Intemtions Business cases document which identifies the 'benefits' (which is how we interpreted the concept of business case) to a range of stakeholders - inlcuding individuals. It identifies some of the benefits that come from sharing in a range of ways (including open sharing).

Agree also that some formal recognition and reward is also very very helpful.

I would like the sector to recognise the "publication" of OER material in a similar way that it is with a written paper publication. Would be interesting to see whether the UK OER projects could formulate a system which we could all buy in to.
